Our 2013 Summer Camps are FULL

Starting May 15, any spots that open up in our summer camps will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

What this will look like:
1. If a spot opens up, WYP will send an email (from summer@wyp.org) to everyone on the waitlist with details about the available camp.
2. The first family to respond and confirm participation will get the spot.
3. The email will be sent at 12 pm M-F (not on the weekends).

To join our waitlist, please follow the link below.

Summer Camp 2013 Details:
As always, please feel free to contact us with questions or concerns at summer@wyp.org or 964-8096.

We're Growing Each Year: Wilderness Youth Project has offered more summer camps every year and 2013 is our biggest increase ever. There are 96 more camp spaces this year, making 2013 almost 30% bigger than 2012! Furthermore, we were able to offer a camp to every participant of our school year programs that registered during the open enrollment period.

As in years past, our Summer Camp 2013 registration happened through a weighted lottery process.  In order to be included in the lottery, all families needed to submit a registration request ANY TIME during the month of February 2013.For more information about how the weighted lottery works, read below.

More about the weighted lottery enrollment system for WYP programs

Which programs are affected?
The weighted lottery system will apply to registration for summer programs.  It will also apply to our bi-annual Family Camps and some adult programs, depending on popularity of the event.

What are the dates for Summer 2013 Registration?

Open enrollment for Summer 2013 FOR ALL FAMILIES (including school-year families) ran between Feb. 1  through Feb 28, 2013. Lottery results will be announced Friday, March 8th, 2013.

How does the weighted lottery work?
This weighted lottery system will not be completely random. Certain factors will affect your chances of enrollment, weighted in the following order:

  1. No outstanding balances from past sessions
  2. Participation in school year programs
  3. Ability to be flexible in schedule (i.e. “My child is available for most sessions in summer, other than our first choice”)
  4. Balancing for demographic diversity
  5. Participation in past summer camps
PRICING (follow link for more FAQ): Program fees for summer camps are organized via sliding scale levels based on ability to pay.
Program Fee: This is the actual cost of running the program for Wilderness Youth Project
Scholarship Level 1, Subsidy: For families that need some financial assistance
Scholarship Level 2, Deep Subsidy: For low income families**
**Deeper scholarships below Level 2 may be requested by completing the scholarship request amount during the application process.
